Map to JanYourStory

How to Participate in the Memoir Nation Writing Challenge

by Grant Faulkner

This January promises to go down in history. It’s the first JanYourStory ever—for you and for us! Which means there is a lot to learn and take in.

To help you navigate JanYourStory—and your memoir—please follow this “map to the month,” which is also now archived inside the Community Space in the section called JanYourStory. Find it by logging on to your account (or by creating a free account if you don’t already have one).

  1. Sign up! You still can.

  2. Tell your friends, family, and countrypeople that you’re writing a memoir. (Use the snazzy images we provided at the bottom of this page or the memes included in this email).

  3. RSVP for our write-ins throughout the month!

  4. Perhaps most important, do the Daily JanYourStory Actions (and press the button at the bottom of each action to be properly celebrated).

  5. Post your writing updates—word-count, challenges, breakthroughs, etc.—in the Message Board section of the Community.

  6. Sign up for Pacemaker if you want to track your word-count each day.

  7. Buy a commemorative t-shirt or mug from the Memoir Nation Store!

  8. Attend our Keep It Going party on January 31!

We’ll see you in the Memoir Nation Community, where we’ll be cheering you on!
